Jillian DiFazio

DVM DACVECC, Chief Medical Officer

Jillian graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology before earning her veterinary degree from Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. She then completed a small animal rotating internship at Cornell University, where she went on to complete her residency in Emergency and Critical Care in 2014. Following her residency, she spent a year and a half at Cornell University Veterinary Specialists. In 2016, Jillian joined VERG and established the Critical Care Service.  The Critical Care Service began as a service to complement the Emergency Department and other specialty services within the hospital.  It has expanded to include 6 criticalists and has become the center of the hospital. This is something that she takes great pride in and affectionately refers to the department as her “baby.” In 2023, she was named VERG’s Chief of Staff.  As of July 2026, she is now the Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of VERG.

Her clinical interests include sepsis, neurotrauma, endocrine disorders, vasopressor therapy and mechanical ventilation.

Outside of work, Jillian enjoys fitness classes such as cycling, weightlifting, and boot camps. She also has a love of music and travel. On her days off, she can often be found with her fiancé, Matt, and their dogs, Ellie, a Chihuahua mix, Charlie, a bloodhound mix, and Muppet, a Shih Tzu mix/“perfection.
